EU ballot 'slur' rage

EUROPE minister Jim Murphy was last night accused of using dirty tricks to discredit a poll on the EU Treaty.

The I Want A Referendum campaign is holding a ballot on the rejigged constitution in his East Renfrewshire seat.

The respected Electoral Reform Society is running the secret vote - but Mr Murphy's local party has sent out leaflets claiming the Tories are behind it and it is "not a secret ballot".

Campaign chief Neil O'Brien said: "Mr Brown's Government is desperate to stop people having a say. It's dirty tricks."
